Clinician to be honored with service award

Valentine Bliss fundraiser will be Feb. 11

JEFFERSONVILLE — The Center for Lay Ministries/Bliss House Committee announced the 2012 recipient of the prestigious Sue LaRue Service Award. Leatha Jackson, who will receive the award, has worked to help Bliss House accomplish its mission of recovery for women dependent on drugs or alcohol.

She is a clinician with Centerstone Mental Health and Addiction and works directly with men and women discharged from the Indiana Department of Correction.

She has case-managed many of the Bliss House women, providing services which impact their success while in recovery. However, she goes well beyond the call of duty when dealing with the Bliss House women, according to a press release from Bliss House. She places herself on call whenever needed and goes the extra mile to ensure the women have the greatest opportunities to be successful.

She will be honored at the annual fundraiser, Valentine Bliss, at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at the First Christian Church Grace Center, 3209 Middle Road, Jeffersonville, along with a celebration of the success of Bliss House.

The event is the organization’s eighth-annual fundraiser. This year it will include a dinner, silent auction, short ceremony and a dance with live band. Cost is $50 per person and reservations can be made by contacting Sandy McCauley at 502-727-0732.
