Area birders are on the lookout for a western reef heron after several recent sightings in New Hampshire. The bird has been spotted along the Seacoast. The birders are hooked in on the Internet and converge on areas where the bird has been sighted. On Sunday some 50 or 60 birders with high-powered telescopes were looking at the heron, emerging from tall marsh grass onto mud flats. Unknown how this bird got here from Africa. A truly rare sighting.
