A motorist avoided serious injury Wednesday, though her car struck a light pole and ended up coming to rest on its side on Scheller Lane near Our Lady of Perpetual Health Catholic School in New Albany. The wreck occurred about 11:50 a.m., as officials said she lost control of her Ford Fusion while looking down at a GPS system for directions, as she was attempting to locate an address in the neighborhood. The light pole fell to the ground, but the driver was treated at the scene and officials said didn't appear to have any serious injuries. New Albany first responders, the New Albany Fire Department and the New Albany Police Department responded to the accident.
