“I was a school teacher. One night, I was coming home, and just saw this strip being built. It’s kind of funny, when I brought it up to my wife, she wasn’t surprised that I wanted to start a business. When we started, we thought about making it more of a café with sandwich selections. I pulled into the lot for the strip and prayed about whether or not this was the time for me to start my own business, and finally, and the answer was a resounding ‘yes.’”
What do you like about your job?
“I’ve always described myself as a jack of all trades and a master of none. You have to deal with purchasing, customer service, and quality control, and I think it’s a good fit for me.”
What do you find challenging about your work?
“Maybe the 5:30 a.m. wake-up calls when an employee’s not there, or when water is coming in and flooding the back room. Those get a little frustrating, but overall, the good outweighs the bad.”
