FLOYD COUNTY —
Just before noon Wednesday, Greater Clark County Schools board member Robbie Valentine appeared before a Floyd County Superior Court judge and pleaded guilty to an amended charge of reckless driving.
Judge Glenn Hancock read off the terms of the plea agreement, saying that Valentine is to serve six months of probation and 180 days in the Floyd County Jail, should he violate that probation. Valentine will also have to take substance abuse classes.
Valentine was arrested by Indiana State Police on July 10 and booked into the Floyd County Jail at 12:45 a.m. for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and public intoxication.
Valentine’s attorney, Richard Rush, said previously that Valentine had been eating dinner with his wife in downtown New Albany and was on his way home when he was stopped by an ISP trooper. Rush said Valentine consented to a breathalyzer test, where he tested .09, just above the legal limit of .08.
While escorting Valentine out of the courthouse Wednesday, Rush said his client is happy to have this all behind him. He said Valentine will not be losing his driver’s license or any job because of this.
Rush said the substance abuse classes are something the court typically assigns in cases dealing with drugs or alcohol. He said he predicted Valentine would be given the minimum of six, one-hour sessions.
He said if Valentine were to violate probation, he would serve 178 days, due to time already served.
