JEFFERSONVILLE —
Jeffersonville Main Street Inc. is making grants available through its Front Porch Project to increase investment in the downtown district’s residential areas.
The program grants money for exterior improvements to homes. Grant recipients will be required to match any funding they receive. Owner-occupied residences are eligible for grants up to $3,000, which must be matched by an equal amount. The boundaries of the Front Porch Project are the Old Jeffersonville National Register District and the Jeffersonville Urban Enterprise Zone.
The project has been recognized as a model for other communities, as Jeffersonville Main Street Inc. received a Downtown Revitalization Award from the State of Indiana for it. Applications and guidelines are available online at JeffMainStreet.org.
“The goal of this program is to strengthen the historic core of our community and to promote ongoing economic development in Jeffersonville,” said Jay Ellis, executive director of Jeffersonville Main Street Inc. “These projects increase property values and help ensure that homes in our oldest neighborhoods are well maintained.”
The program is made possible through a partnership between Jeffersonville Main Street Inc. and the Jeffersonville Urban Enterprise Association.
