NEW ALBANY —
The tenure of Jody Wassmer as CEO of the local Chamber of Commerce group One Southern Indiana appears to be short-lived. The website insiderlouisville.com reported Wednesday afternoon that according to multiple, unnamed sources, Wassmer will step down from the post Friday.
When contacted to confirm the report by the News and Tribune on Wednesday, One Southern Indiana Chairman Vaughan Scott declined to comment. His only remarks were “we’ll have a [press] release in the morning.”
After attempting to reach Wassmer for comment, he responded via text message with “news release coming out in the morning.”
Wassmer accepted the position in October, but was immediately met with controversy. In January, a Kentucky judge dismissed a lawsuit involving Wassmer. Ashley Bradshaw filed a lawsuit Oct. 3 against the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce alleging wrongful termination. At the time, Wassmer was the Owensboro Chamber’s president, but it was announced the next day that he had been selected to take over as One Southern Indiana CEO effective Oct. 31.
“I was completely not surprised that the lawsuit was dismissed,” Wassmer said in January. “It was frivolous from the start, and I think the quick summary and dismissal was telling.”
Wassmer replaced Michael Dalby, who stepped down from the position in April to take a similar job in Ohio. Dalby was 1si’s first CEO.
