Copperfield Commons brings people, business to Georgetown

GEORGETOWN — Magdalena’s restaurant recently moved from Corydon to Copperfield Commons in Georgetown.

The restaurant seems to be following a trend of businesses moving to the development.

Roger Harbison began developing the 73 acres, which also includes 173 home lots, in 2003 and “has added a few pieces every few years.” Magdalena’s was the most recent piece, following the likes of other restaurants including Pizza Hut, China One, Subway and B3Q Barbecue. There are also a law office, bank, tax service provider, tanning salon, chiropractor and Planet Dance.

“It’s been kind of developed over a period of time,” Harbison said. “We have lost a few tenants with the economy, but this year we were fortunate to get Pizza Hut, B3Q Barbecue and Magdalena’s.”

Harbison, who grew up in Georgetown, said businesses were needed in the area, which is what led him to develop the property.

“I think it serves the residents and we hope to add other tenants,” he said.

Harbison said landing Magdalena’s was “huge” since the restaurant already had a name for itself and a following.

“... It seemed to energize the town,” he said. “The whole town asked me about it.”

Harbison said there is still room for a few more businesses at Copperfield Commons.
