NEW ALBANY — Carl Cart is looking to swamp downtown New Albany with zombies Sept. 19.

Well, at least extras that are willing to dress like the walking dead and appear in the latest Zombie Meister Productions movie. Cart — a New Albany native — is a producer for the outfit and has filmed two other movies in New Albany, though this will be the first focusing on zombies.

The Board of Public Works and Safety agreed this week to close down the 200 block of Pearl Street from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for shooting, and Cart is hoping to get up to 300 extras to participate.

He described the film as a full-length feature that will be a horror comedy.

The extras will be needed from 2 to 4 p.m. as filming winds down.

“For the majority of the day, I’ll be working with a very small crew,” Cart said.

He credited the city for working with the company in the past, and added the businesses near the production area have been very cooperative with him in the past.

The board stipulated that Cart contact businesses in the 200 block of Pearl Street about the production prior to shooting.

While it might not pop-up on the silver screen, Cart said he’ll push the movie where he can.

“I am going to enter it into several film festivals,” he said.

Cart requests those interested in being an extra contact him via e-mail at zombiemeister9@yahoo.com.
