> SOUTHERN INDIANA —
The tempest conditions of the economy during recent years have given us more reason to celebrate successful entrepreneurs.
It’s usually a risk to start a company, and even more so when uncertainty
reigns. With doubt and loss seemingly defi ning the market place, some have still pioneered through the last fi ve years of downturn and invested locally.
Others planted roots in Southern Indiana decades ago, and built solid business foundations that may have been rocked by recession and cutbacks but never faltered.
Floyd and Clark Counties have consistently ranked lower than other counties in Indiana during the economic slump. Perhaps that’s due in part to the area’s entrepreneurs and their ability to help grow the local
economy even when times are hard.
This edition of Southern Indiana Business Source is dedicated to local entrepreneurs. We are privileged to have a diverse business community here, and we don’t always aptly recognize the contributions made by
individuals who sometimes had little more than an idea and a prayer
when they began.
Entrepreneurs bring jobs to communities and launch businesses that add to property tax rolls. They truly are the visionaries of our country financially, and will be the backbone of our economic recovery.
We hope 2013 will be a bountiful year marked by job growth and increases in wages. In order for that to happen, we need our entrepreneurs to be successful.
