CHARLESTOWN — The Clark County Sheriff’s Department has completed its investigation into a double-fatal wreck that occurred Feb. 5 on Ind. 160 near Dunlevy Road, just outside of Henryville.
According to an accident report, Troy D. Anderson, 40, of Louisville, was driving a 2002 Toyota Camry when he crossed the center line and collided with a 1997 Ford Explorer being driven by 57-year-old Steven Haworth, of Charlestown.
Haworth and Anderson were both transported to University Hospital in Louisville where they were pronounced dead.
The report states that the wreck was a head-on collision and that there were no skid or yaw marks showing. There were no witnesses who saw the crash.
Police are not sure what caused Anderson’s vehicle to go left of center.
Both drivers were wearing a seat belt, and both were trapped inside their vehicles.
Clark County Sheriff’s Department Maj. Chuck Adams said the criminal investigation is concluded, with the exception of pending toxicology results for both drivers.
He said it is likely there will be a civil investigation and possibly a lawsuit.
According to a citation report from the Jeffersontown Police Department in Kentucky, Anderson was arrested three days prior to the fatal wreck. Police received a report that Anderson, a Louisville chiropractor, was trying to stab himself in the neck with a metal object, and when officers arrived, they found Anderson with a bloody metal rod in his hand.
He reportedly lunged at and kicked police officers. He was Tasered twice by police. According to the report, he said he wanted to kill himself over his ex-girlfriend. He was arrested for assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
Nothing in the crash report indicated the collision was intentional.
