Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has delayed the closure of northbound Interstate 65 ramps until 8 p.m. today, June 25, to make adjustments to improve traffic flow.
Commuters already felt the delays of the ramp closures Friday evening, as it was the first day of ramps being shut down while workers are redecking the pockmarked Kennedy Bridge.
Exit ramps from northbound I-65 to eastbound I-64/northbound I-71 and westbound I-64 will be closed at 8 p.m. today. These ramps will be closed for 15 days. The exit ramps southbound I-65 to eastbound I-64/northbound I-71 and westbound I-64 closed Sunday and are set to be closed for 10 days.
Additional ramp closures, which will be in place until the project is completed, include the exit ramp from eastbound I-64 to northbound I-65 in Kentucky, the exit ramp from southbound I-65 to Market Street in Jeffersonville and the entrance ramp from Court Avenue to southbound I-65 in Jeffersonville.
While the repairs to the Kennedy Bridge are being made, vehicles wider than nine feet are restricted from traveling through the work zone.
The project is expected to be complete by the end of July.
