Style show to help Hosparus

The United We Stand Style Show and Dance Competition will benefit Hosparus Southern Indiana patients and families. The event is at 7 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.), Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Huber’s Orchard & Winery, Plantation Hall, 19816 Huber Road, Starlight.

Tickets are $75 per person for dinner and soft drinks and a cash bar will be offered. This event features a fashion show, auctions and celebrity dancers competing for a great cause. For information, contact Jerry Leonard at 812-542-2801 orjleonard@hosparus.org



JEFFERSONVILLE

Nonprofit’s parking lot closed

The Center for Lay Ministries parking lot, 221 E. Maple St., Jeffersonville, will be closed from Friday, Sept. 7, until Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Parking is not permitted in the surrounding business parking lots, but clients may park at St. Augustine Catholic Church or St. Luke’s United Church of Christ.



Lay Ministries hosting meeting

The Center for Lay Ministries is hosting its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at 221 E. Maple St. and is inviting the public to attend.

The meeting is to recognize the ongoing support of the churches, agencies and businesses of the Center for Lay Ministries. At the meeting there will be recognition of a generous bequest, an anonymous matching gift challenge, announcement of the winner of a neighborhood challenge, newly elected board members will be introduced and the organization’s annual report will be available.

Refreshments and tours of the remodeled food pantry, Bliss House and Bliss House Too will wrap up the evening, according to the release.

Council to hold listening sessions

The Clarksville Town Council will hold several upcoming listening sessions. They are:

• 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at Town Hall, 2000 Broadway

• 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the REMC building, 7810 Ind. 60, Sellersburg

• 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 at Ohio Falls Methodist Church, 917 S. Virginia Ave.



Register today for stress program

Clarksville Parks Department is sponsoring a program on natural solutions for stress and fatigue from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Sept. 19, at Clarksville Middle School, 101 Ettels Lane, Clarksville.

The cost for the class is $13 and registration is due by today, Sept. 7. For more information call 812-283-5313.



FLOYDS KNOBS

Safe driving event upcoming

A party designed to rally communities around new drivers will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sept. 15, at  Floyd Central High School, 6575 Old Vincennes Road, Floyd Knobs.
