JEFFERSONVILLE —
A pedestrian was seriously injured Wednesday evening after an accident on the Clark Memorial Bridge.
Jeffersonville Police Department Detective Todd Hollis said a bicyclist and pedestrian were traveling in opposite directions on the sidewalk on the east side of the Clark Memorial Bridge.
Hollis said the bicycle was headed northbound and the pedestrian southbound when the two collided. Police were called at 6:17 p.m.
The pedestrian fell into the roadway and was struck by a Mitsubishi Eclipse.
The pedestrian, identified as a 38-year-old male, was transported to University Hospital in Louisville with serious head injuries. His name is not being released pending notification of family.
The male bicyclist and female driver of the vehicle will be tested for impairment as is standard in crashes resulting in serious injury. Hollis said there is no indication they were impaired.
The bridge was closed during the investigation and accident reconstruction.
