The U.S. Small Business Administration announced it will close its Scott County Business Recovery Center at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 26.
The center was opened to assist businesses recover from the effects of the severe storms and tornadoes that occurred from Feb. 29 through March 3. Survivors are encouraged to visit the center before it closes for one-on-one assistance with SBA representatives for program information and completion of their low interest disaster loan applications.
Businesses and nonprofit organizations of any size may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory and other business assets. For small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private non-profit organizations, the SBA offers Economic Injury Disaster Loans to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster. Economic Injury Disaster Loan assistance is available regardless of whether the business suffered any physical property damage.
After the center closes, additional information on the disaster loan program can be obtained by calling SBA’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955, 1-800-877-8339 for the deaf and hard-of-hearing or by sending an email to disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.
Loan application forms can be downloaded from www.sba.gov.
Completed applications should be mailed to: U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.
Those affected by the disasters may also apply for disaster loans electronically from SBA’s website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/. The deadline to return applications for physical property damage is May 8, 2012 and to return economic injury applications is December 10, 2012.
