A Clarksville man wanted for nearly five years in Floyd County for not paying child support was arrested at his home Monday afternoon on a felony warrant.
Michael Hall, 57, of the 100 block of East Norwood Avenue, was arrested at about 4:30 p.m. by the New Albany Police Department’s FLEX unit, according to a department news release.
A warrant was issued for Hall in March 2005 in Floyd County Circuit Court. He is charged with class C felony nonsupport of a dependent child.
According to the Floyd County Prosecutor’s Office, Hall owes $75,944 in child support. A statement from Prosecutor Keith Henderson praised Investigator Wayne Kessinger and NAPD Officer Kelly Brown for working to apprehend Hall.
“This has been long in coming,” Henderson said. “The message here is that we will continue to pursue individuals who blatantly do not support their children.” Hall is being held in the Floyd County Jail on a $51,794 cash-only bond. He faces two to eight years imprisonment and fines of up to $10,000 if convicted.
New Albany man charged in vehicle break-in
A New Albany man was arrested on Tuesday morning after witnesses identified him as the man who broke into a 35-year-old woman’s vehicle in the 2400 block of Charlestown Road.
According to an NAPD news release, he was arrested at 10:10 a.m.
Officers were called to the scene of the break-in, and witnesses at the scene identified Timothy D. Elswick, 20, as the suspect. He allegedly shattered the glass in the woman’s car and crawled inside.
Elswick was located in the 2500 block of Fairmont Avenue, where officers believed he was residing. Police found Elswick walking in the area and preliminarily charged him with attempted theft, a class D felony, and criminal mischief, a class A misdemeanor.
He is being held in the Floyd County Jail awaiting an initial hearing.
Clarksville man arrested for drug possession
A Clarksville man was arrested early Tuesday morning after police found drugs during a traffic stop, according to an NAPD news release.
Robert Marion DeCamp, 29, of the 2300 block of Lombardy Drive, was reportedly driving a pickup truck when it was stopped at the intersection of West Main Street and Scribner Drive in New Albany for having an inoperable light.
The officer reported DeCamp was unsteady on his feet, and he then found Xanax and Clonazepam in the man’s possession.
DeCamp was arrested on a preliminary charge of possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony.
