Two teenagers were arrested Monday by Jeffersonville Police Department officers for an armed robbery that reportedly occurred last month.
Cory Wayne Birge, 18, and a 17-year-old female juvenile were arrested and booked into jail on charges of class B felony robbery with a deadly weapon and class D felony intimidation. The female also is charged with battery.
JPD Detective Todd Hollis said a search warrant was executed at Birge’s apartment Monday, and then Birge and the female suspect were taken to the police station and interviewed.
Hollis said they were investigating a robbery that occurred just after midnight Jan. 16 in the courtyard of French Quarter apartment complex, off Middle Road. He police believe a 9-millimeter semi-automatic pistol was used to rob a 16-year-old girl of a cell phone, wallet, clothing and money.
Hollis said the victim suffered some injuries to her face, but nothing serious of life-threatening.
Prosecutors may ask that the 17-year-old suspect be waived into adult court, Hollis said. The investigation continues.
