JEFFERSONVILLE —
A woman pulled over for not having working tail lights on her car ended up admitting to dealing drugs, according to police.
Jacinda Rose Barrett, 22, of Henryville, has been charged with dealing a schedule I, II, III controlled substance, a class B felony, dealing a schedule IV controlled substance, a class C felony, and possession of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid, a class A misdemeanor.
On April 21, Barrett was seen driving on Ind. 62 without working tail lights, so she was pulled over by an officer with the Jeffersonville Police Department, according to the probable cause affidavit. Once the officer approached, he noticed spice [synthetic marijuana] sitting in the passenger’s lap. Barrett was also found to have a suspended license, so she was placed into custody. She told the officer he could search her car. In it, he found various baggies of spice — some were empty — and a rolling paper container. The passenger, Anthony B. Ortkiese, of Florida, said all the items found were his.
During a search at the jail, an officer found Barrett had two marijuana/spice cigarettes, a baggy of spice, two hydrocodone pills and two Xanax pills.
Barrett then admitted that she was a drug dealer, according to the probable cause affidavit, who has been selling pills for a couple of months to make an additional $100-plus a week. If convicted, Barrett faces six to 20 years for the B felony, two to eight years for the C felony and six months to three years for the misdemeanor charge.
No attorney was listed for Barrett in online court records.
