At least one area school district will start assessing roads tonight to see if they can make the call on whether or not to have school earlier than usual.
Superintendent Monty Schneider, with West Clark Community Schools, said his team will travel the roads tonight around 8 to 10 p.m. to see how the conditions are as the roads likely refreeze.
“If we are unable to make a clear cut decision then, we will check the roads again around 4 to 5:30 a.m. [Wednesday],” Schneider said via e-mail. “Additional snow could change any earlier decisions.”
However, not all are planning on making the decision early. Kim Knott, interim superintendent with Clarksville Community School Corp., said her district’s decision may not be made until tomorrow morning. Dave Rarick, director of communications with New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corp., said he was unsure of when a decision would be made.
Greater Clark County Schools will be waiting until the morning to make its decision, according to Erin Bojorquez, public relations specialist for GCCS, who said the district will decide by 6 a.m.
