Merit board meeting moved back
The Jeffersonville Police Merit Commission moved its meeting to 6 p.m. March 9 in room 101 of City Hall, 500 Quartermaster Court.

Comment on sewer plans
The Jeffersonville Sanitary Sewer Board is accepting public comment on its draft of the combined sewer overflow long-term control plan through March. Copies of the draft are available during regular business hours at the following locations:
• City Engineer’s Office, City Hall, 500 Quartermaster Court;
• Wastewater Treatment Plant, 1420 Pennsylvania Ave.; and,
• Jeffersonville Township Public Library, 211 E. Court Ave.
Comments may be presented to the board in writing on or before March 3, sent to the following address: Wastewater Department, Attention: Len Ashack, director, 1420 Pennsylvania Ave., Jeffersonville, IN, 47130
The board will host a public meeting to present the plan at 5 p.m. Feb. 18 in the mayor’s conference room at City Hall, 500 Quartermaster Court.
The plan is being developed in accordance with a legal agreement, known as the consent decree, between the sewer board, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Justice and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. The sewer board ratified the consent decree in August and it was later filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.

Mothers group to meet next week
MOPS — Mothers of Preschoolers — of Clark County will meet from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Speed Memorial Church, 328 U.S. 31, Speed.
There will be refreshments served and child care available. The program will include a discussion of developmental milestones for children, and the importance of reading with a child.
Free resources, booklets, and handouts from the U.S. Department of Education and the Center for Family Literacy will be available. All moms of preschool children are invited to attend.

SOUTHERN INDIANA
Minority & Women conference set
One Southern Indiana will host its 11th annual 2010 Minority & Women Business Owners Conference with an open reception from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 17 and registration beginning at breakfast at 8 a.m. March 18 at Horseshoe Casino, Elizabeth.
The conference will have nearly 100 exhibitors, 500 attendees and six workshop sessions focusing on issues important to certified minority and women business enterprises, disadvantaged businesses, veteran-owned businesses and those seeking to do business with these certified business groups. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with government agency representatives, supplier diversity managers and procurement directors and managers from both the government and corporate sector.
Lunch will be served from noon to 1:30 p.m. March 18 and the event will end at 4 p.m. that day.
Cost for the full event including seminars, exhibitor hall, breakfast, lunch and cocktail reception is $110 per person for early-bird registration, and $125 per person after Feb. 26; afternoon session only, which includes third seminar, exhibitor hall and cocktail reception, is $55 per person for early-bird registration, and $70 per person for registration after Feb. 26.

Fundraiser to feature wine theme
The annual Making Memories wine tasting and auction featuring a selection of Brown-Forman fine wines to benefit the area Alzheimer’s Association will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 26 in the Main Ballroom, across from Jack Binion’s restaurant at Horseshoe Casino, Elizabeth.
Based on the theme A Night in Napa, the event will feature wine tasting, dinner and live entertainment. Guests will have the chance to bid on more than 300 one-of-a-kind items in both silent and live auctions.
The Making Memories 2010 honorary chair is Lane M. Bowen, executive vice president of Kindred Healthcare. The event benefits programs of the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Kentucky & Southern Indiana Chapter, including the 24-Hour Helpline, Medic Alert/Safe Return program, family support groups and respite for caregivers.

River Ridge moves forward with development plans
No sale has been finalized on either piece of land, as River Ridge owns the 16-acre parcel, and the adjacent 54-acre tract is owned by Crossdock Development, a Louisville-based company that specializes in developing properties on the order of millions of square feet.
