Red Dress Luncheon is Feb. 25

Alpha Phi will host the 3rd Annual Red Dress Luncheon benefitting Cardiac Care for Women from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Calumet Club in New Albany. Tickets are $25.

Lunch will be catered by Terri Lynn’s Catering. Heart attack survivor Maggie Tully O’Neal will be the guest speaker for the event, which also includes a fashion show, silent auction and door prizes.

Deanery enrolling for youth tennis

The Catholic Youth Ministry Deanery is currently accepting applications for girls’ tennis. Deadline is March 2,  and the cost is $55, which includes T-shirt, or $40 if you have last year’s T-shirt.

Library offers resume, cover letter help

The Charlestown-Clark County Public Library and Ivy Tech Community College Southern Indiana are teaming up to present a free Resume and Cover Letter Workshop, 6 to 7 p.m., Feb.  22, at the Charlestown Library, 51 Clark Road, Charlestown.

Guest speaker Cindy Soliday will lead an informational session on resumes and cover letter writing. The program is open to the public. Registration is strongly recommended. To register, go to www.clarkco.lib.in.us and click on Calendar.

Homemakers offering scholarships

Floyd County Extension Homemakers Association is offering one $750 scholarship to each of the following: one adult student, a Floyd Central High School senior and a New Albany High School senior. Applicants must be Floyd County residents.

Applications may be obtained through Purdue University Cooperative Extension, Floyd County Office, 3000 Technology Avenue, Suite L2110, New Albany, Ind. 47150 or call 812-948-5470.

Deadline to apply is March 15.



SOUTHERN INDIANA

Deadline set for Boys, Girls State

The American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary’s goal is to promote Americanism and  citizenship while educating America’s youth.

Students who are currently in their junior year of high school are given the opportunity to attend Boys or Girls State hosted by the Legion. Area schools are generally contacted in January by chairmen from the local American Legion Post or Auxiliary. Home schooled students are also encouraged to complete an application to attend the program.

Organists plan Lenten recitals

The Indiana Organist United and the Southern Indiana Chapter of the American Guild of Organists presents a series of organ recitals during the Lenten season on the wonderful pipe organs in Southern Indiana.

• Feb. 24: Noon at the First Presbyterian Church, 222  Walnut St., Jeffersonville. Organist will be Timothy Baker.

• March 2: Noon, at Central Christian Church, 1315 East Spring St., New Albany. Organist will be Dennis Blake

• March 9: Noon, St. Mark’s United Church of Christ, 222 East Spring St., New Albany. Organist will be Gary Pope.

• March 16: Noon, Wall Street United Methodist Church, 240 Wall St., Jeffersonville. Organist will be Judith E. Miller.

• March 23: Noon, St. John Presbyterian Church, 1307 East Elm St., New Albany. Organist will be David K. Lamb

• March 30: Noon, Trinity United Methodist Church, 2796 Charlestown Road, New Albany. Organist will be Theresa Bauer.



CLARKSVILLE

Historical Society has new hours for museum

The Clarksville Historical Society announces new hours for its Archives and Museum, located on the second floor of the Clarksville Municipal Center at 2000 Broadway, Clarksville.  

The Archives Room is open to the public Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Items in the collection include photographs, maps, books, documents and media.

Displays of objects and memorabilia of the town’s history are in the second floor lobby and are available for viewing from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily Monday through Friday.
