CLARK COUNTY — A 26-year-old Borden man appeared in court Monday, two days after surrendering on preliminary attempted murder charges in a shooting at Hoosier Hills Sports Bar.
Brandon Joseph Banet was booked into the Clark County Jail at 5:05 p.m. Saturday.
Clark County Superior Court No. 1 Judge Vicki Carmichael set bond at $100,000, pending an initial hearing set for Wednesday. Clark County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jeremy Mull said he had not received a report from the incident, and so official charges were not filed Monday.
Clark County Sheriff’s Department Maj. Chuck Adams said in a previous interview with The Evening News that an argument between Banet and Andrew Scott Burnett began inside the bar, which is off of Ind. 60 in Borden. The argument spilled into the parking lot after the two men were kicked out of the establishment.
Banet allegedly shot Burnett, 36, of Depauw, in the upper chest and abdomen as Burnett rushed him.
The dispute reportedly began over a woman. One of the men involved in the shooting was an ex-boyfriend of the woman and the other is her current boyfriend.
The victim was most recently listed in fair condition at University Hospital in Louisville.
