Ivy Tech hosting health care career day

Ivy Tech Community College Southern Indiana is hosting a Healthcare Career Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23, in Ogle Hall on the campus of Ivy Tech, 8204 Ind. 311, Sellersburg.

Representatives from Ivy Tech’s Health Sciences programs, area health care agencies and hospitals will be available to discuss education and career options as well as campus and community resources. Financial aid presentations, student panels and health care professional panels will be set throughout the career day. Health screenings will also be available for the public.

Barbecue to feature area politicians

Clark Regional Airport will host its first family barbecue for several Indiana politicians Saturday, June 23.

Indiana Sen. Ron Grooms, R-Jeffersonville, Rep. Todd Young, R-Ind., and Tony Bennett, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction, will attend along with local candidates and officials, according to a press release.

The barbecue will serve as a fundraiser for Grooms’ committee and as a kick-off to the fall elections. The event is being hosted by Vic and Jeannie Unruh and will feature music acts, food and family fun. Tickets are $20 per person and $10 per child and will be available at the door.

The barbecue will be from noon to 5 p.m. at Clark Regional Airport, hanger 8 in Sellersburg.



Car show to benefit animal group

The Floyd County Animal Rescue League is accepting car show registrations

for Big Wheels for Little Paws Car and Bike Show and Family Fun

Festival from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at Sportsdrome Speedway.

The event will have room for m ore than 100 booths, including a children’s section with giant inflatables, face painting and more. Car and bike registration is open to all makes and models and is $15.

Daylily show and plant sale

The Daylily Society of Southern Indiana will have its annual Daylily show and plant sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 23, at the Green Tree Mall, Center Court, 757 E. Lewis and Clark Parkway, Clarksville

The show is free and open to the public. The sale will feature daylily plants in a wide variety of forms, colors, and sizes at reasonable prices. Experienced gardeners will be available to answer questions about gardening and growing daylilies.

Alzheimer’s group to meet

The Alzheimer’s Support Group will meet at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, at Green Valley Care Center, 3118 Green Valley Road, New Albany.

Fun fest coming Saturday

Sisters of Savings Souls (S.O.S) outreach ministry will sponsor a Fun Fest from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at Lincoln Park Church, 3733 E. 10th St., Jeffersonville.
