Civil War presentation is tonight at library
The New Albany-Floyd County Public Library, 180 W. Spring St., New Albany, is presenting a second program on the Civil War with a special emphasis on local involvement in the war at 7 p.m. today, Jan. 17, in the Strassweg Auditorium.
Carl Kramer, director of the Institute for Local and Oral History at Indiana University Southeast, will discuss the mobilization of local troops for the Union Army and Jeffersonville’s role as a logistical center for Union operations in the West, particularly the development and functions of Camp Joe Holt, Jefferson General Hospital and the U.S. Quartermaster Corps.

The Jeffersonville Sanitary Sewer Board’s Thursday meeting has been changed to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Jeffersonville City Hall, 500 Quartermaster Court. Those meetings are open to the public.
