Comedy night benefit coming up

Sellersburg Moose Family Center is sponsoring a Colby Russ Benefit Comedy Night, featuring Mike Armstrong at 7 p.m., July 17, at the Moose Lodge, 1040 S. Ind. Ave., Sellersburg.

Tickets are $10 a person with all donations used for Colby’s medical needs and handicap accessibility needs.



JEFFERSONVILLE

Church sponsors feeding program

Bethel AME Church, 200 W. Park Place, Jeffersonville, will sponsor a USDA Summer Feeding program for all children ages 18 and younger, and to persons older than 18 who are enrolled in a state approved educational program for the mentally or physically disabled.

The program will operate Monday through Friday, June 11 through Aug. 3, at the church.

Breakfast will be served from 9 to 9:30 a.m. and lunch from noon to 1 p.m. For more information call 812-283-0624. There will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.



Retired employees meeting Tuesday

NARFE Jeff Chapter 381 will meet at 1 p.m., June 12, at the Red Cross Building, 1805 Eighth St., Jeffersonville.

Robotics camp coming up

Jeffersonville-based Amatrol, the world’s leader in skills-based, interactive technical learning, will hold its seventh-annual Robotics Summer Camp for students entering ninth grade from June 18-29.

The Robotics Summer Camp provides an introduction to engineering and technology through hands-on experience with robotics. Students will practice basic robotic programming, software interface, quality and production control and workcell development. Students will also tour Amatrol’s plant and interview engineers and technologists so they can learn about the many high-demand career paths in these fields.

The twenty-four students are drawn from Clark, Floyd, Harrison and Scott county middle schools. The 10-day camp features a morning session from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and an afternoon group from 1:30-4:30 p.m.

NEW ALBANY

June is Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat month

 Every year, shelters nationwide are filled with cats. In honor of Adopt-A-Shelter Cat month, The New Albany-Floyd County Animal Shelter is holding a certified pre-owned cat sale in the month of June. Besides your certified pre-owned cat, qualifying adopters will receive a $5 gas card and an opportunity to win a special gift basket for your newly adopted cat.

Adoptions for cats more than four pounds will have a one-time fee of $20, and will include a Catfax Cat History Report, FeLV/FIV testing, vaccinations, spaying or neutering, a microchip, four-pound bag of Science Diet Food, Feeders Supply coupon book, a Cardboard Pet Carrier for traveling, and a $5 gas card to ensure safe delivery home.



Free medication toss at hospital

Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services is offering the opportunity to get rid of old medications from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, at the Green Valley Road entrance to the hospital.

This toss is regularly scheduled on the second Thursday of every month. The hospital will accept expired and or unused medications, including bulk or loose tablets and capsules. Please do not bring needles.



Autumn Woods holding food drive

Autumn Woods Health Campus, 2911 Green Valley Road, New Albany, is sponsoring a food drive for Inter-Faith Community Food Pantry throughout the month of June.

You can drop off your donations at Autumn Woods Campus any time during June. Each dollar donated purchases three pounds of food.



Denzinger blood drive is June 18

The Indiana Fallen Officers Blood Drive, in memory of Frank Denzinger, will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 18, at Northside Christian Church, 4407 Charlestown Road, New Albany.



Yard sale to help church outreach

Advent Christian Church, 2129 Shelby St., New Albany, will sponsor its annual Penny Crusade Yard Sale, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., June 16, in the church basement.

Refreshments will be available for purchase and there will be a bake sale with lots of goodies.

All proceeds will go to help the church support Penny Crusade Outreach Ministries. For more information call 812-945-8384.



Hairdressers’ two-miler is Saturday

Hairdressers With Helping Hands, a group that raises money to help hairdressers in crisis, will host a 2-mile walk starting at the farmers’ market, downtown New Albany, 6 p.m. June 15.
