CHARLESTOWN —
Charlestown police arrested a city animal-control officer after they say he was selling methamphetamine out of a city-owned vehicle.
Robert Young, 39, was arrested by Charlestown Police Department on Friday after an undercover investigation, according to a CPD release.
Officers stopped Young after observing him complete a drug transaction. After he was arrested, officers located precursors used to manufacture methamphetamine inside the city’s animal-control vehicle, which Young was driving. Officers called upon the Indiana State Police’s Meth Suppression Team to assist.
Officers initially received numerous civilian complaints as well as complaints from city employees about Young’s involvement in drug activity.
“Officers worked diligently with city officials during this investigation to see that Young was apprehended and will no longer be able to sell drugs to the citizens of Charlestown” said CPD Maj. Jason Broady.
Young was arrested on preliminary charges of dealing methamphetamine, a class A felony; possession of methamphetamine, a class B felony; and manufacturing methamphetamine, a class C felony.
This investigation is ongoing and more details will be released as it becomes available, according to the release.
