NAPD searching for man who stole cash register drawer

Police are searching for a suspect that reportedly stole a cash register drawer from a New Albany convenience store, according to an NAPD news release.

A 28-year-old woman on duty at the Circle K Food Mart in the 600 block of West Main Street reported at about 1:20 a.m. Wednesday that a customer she was serving grabbed the drawer when she opened the register to ring up a pack of gum for the man.

Convicted sex offender arrested after failing to appear

A Jeffersonville man convicted in Floyd County in 2008 of failing to register as a sex offender was arrested Tuesday for allegedly not paying delinquent probationer’s fees or reporting to his probation officer. According to court records, he then did not show up for a hearing on those charges.

A warrant was issued for 32-year-old Steven W. Dujardin when he failed to show up at a hearing on Feb. 22.

In December 2008, he was sentenced to 10 months and 20 days in jail and 13 months and 10 days of probation for failing to register and a felony theft charge. His probation could be revoked as a result of his probation violation. He was convicted of sexual battery in 2000.
