Police see results from Drug Take Back

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — Local police agencies collected hundreds of pounds of unwanted prescription drugs during the annual “Prescription Drug Take Back” day on April 28, initiated through the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The Clarksville Police Department collected 500 pounds of prescription drugs, and the Indiana State Police Sellersburg Post collected 88 pounds. Statewide, ISP collected 1,839 pounds of medications.

The “Take Back” initiative seeks to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft, by collecting expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs to be disposed. The service was free and anonymous.
