JEFFERSONVILLE —
A Kentucky woman was in intensive care Tuesday following a Monday car crash on Ind. 62 in Jeffersonville.
Angel Hord, 21, of La Grange, Ky., was receiving treatment in the hospital’s surgical intensive care unit Tuesday evening, according to hospital officials.
The rear-end accident occurred in the westbound left lane of the roadway about 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of River Ridge Circle.
Patrick Durbin, 46, of the 400 block of Mills Lane in New Albany, drove his 1994 Mercury Sable into the back of a 2008 Scion driven by Brady Polston, 26, of 1400 block of Blackiston View Drive in Clarksville, according to the accident report. Durbin and Polston also were sent to U of L hospital, but as of Tuesday, the hospital did not have records for the two. Police listed their injuries as non-life threatening in an accident report.
Hord was a passenger in Polston’s vehicle.
According to the accident report, the collision was caused by Durbin driving at an unsafe speed, and the crash was the result of aggressive driving. He was preliminarily charged with reckless driving. The report continued that Polston was slowing her speed for a yellow light at the intersection when her vehicle was struck by Durbin’s car. The collision resulted in both vehicles traveling across the intersection and coming to a rest in the eastbound lane.
The damaged vehicles forced Jeffersonville police to redirect eastbound traffic on Ind. 62 for several hours.
A witness stated to police that he was traveling 60 mph in the right lane when he was passed by Durbin’s vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed moments before the collision.
