FLOYD COUNTY —
Officials have processed dental records to positively identify the remains found in a 2001 Jaguar discovered in a wooded area off of Skyline Drive in Floyd County Friday as Ethan Bennett.
Bennett, 19, of Sellersburg, had been missing since Sept. 11.
Floyd County Sheriff’s Office officials said Mark L. Bernstein, a University of Louisville dentistry school employee and expert in forensic odontology, made the positive identification Wednesday morning.
Before Bernstein’s confirmation, Floyd County police said Saturday that the body found in the vehicle — which was owned by Bennett’s parents — was believed to be Bennett.
The Jaguar was found in a ravine that drops more than 750 feet from the roadway during a search using a private helicopter service. The search was organized by the Clark County Sheriff’s Department and Bennett’s family.
