Clark Memorial CEO to serve lunch
For the past few years, there has been a running competition between Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services and Clark Memorial Hospital to see which hospital has the most employees raise money for United Way.
This year, Floyd Memorial was the winning hospital with employees donating $51,321 compared to Clark Memorial’s $39,463. To make good on the bet, Clark Memorial CEO Martin Padgett will be serving lunch in the Floyd Memorial cafeteria at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23.

Program on flooding coming up
A program observing the 75th anniversary of the 1937 Flood will begin at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 26, at Howard Steamboat Museum, 1101 E. Market St., Jeffersonville. Admission is free with donations accepted to benefit the museum’s operating fund. The guest speaker will be Rick Bell, author of “The Great Flood of 1937, Rising Waters — Soaring Spirits.”
Following the presentation, the audience will be invited to share their remembrances of the flood. For more information call 812-283-3728.
Claysburg presenting original play
The 2012 Claysburg Reunion committee will present “Our Story,” an original play compiled and directed by Lou Seawright at 5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, at Indiana Avenue Christian Church, 1501 Locust St., Jeffersonville.
A free will offering will be taken to help support the Claysburg Reunion Weekend, Aug. 3-5.
Show off your hoops skills
The Jeffersonville Optimist Clubs will sponsor the annual Tri-Star Basketball Skills Contest from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, at Nachand Fieldhouse, 601 E. Court Ave., Jeffersonville.
The free contest will consist of three tests aimed at evaluating a contestant’s skill in passing, shooting and dribbling a basketball. Boys and girls compete separately and individually in six age groups (8-13) against youth of their own age.
Entry forms will be available at the contest site on the day of competition. First and second place finishers will advance to a free regional contest.

Red Dress luncheon to raise money
Alpha Phi will host its third-annual Red Dress Luncheon benefiting Cardiac Care for Women from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Calumet Club in New Albany. Tickets are $25.
Lunch will be catered by Terri Lynn’s Catering. Heart attack survivor Maggie Tully O’Neal will be the guest speaker for the event, which also includes a fashion show, silent auction and door prizes. St. Mark’s health fair set
St. Mark’s United Church of Christ, 222 E. Spring St., New Albany, will host its fourth-annual Neighborhood Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25.
This event provides health and wellness services for adults and children at no cost. Free vision screenings and eyeglasses provided by EDGE Outreach Ministries and the Lions Club; flu shots, blood pressure and blood sugar screenings by Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services; haircuts, chiropractic screenings, chair massages, women’s health education and wellness, literacy and social service resources will also be available during the fair.
Refreshments served all day, with a free hot meal served from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bilingual and sign language interpreters will be available. For more information, call 812-945-2569.
