JEFFERSONVILLE —
Two people were treated for smoke inhalation Wednesday after a kitchen fire at Prestwick Square Apartments, off of East 10th Street, in Jeffersonville.
Jeffersonville Fire Marshal Travis Sharp said they received a call at 2:36 p.m. about smoke in the residence. The first unit arrived on scene at 2:40 p.m.
A pan with grease was left on the stove and caught fire, Sharp said. Two people were asleep in a back room of the apartment. They heard some popping and crackling which alerted them to the fire.
The damage was limited to the kitchen. Sharp said they were able to stop the spread of the fire. The residents will be able to keep living there.
The two people treated at the scene appeared to be OK, according to firefighters.
