JEFFERSONVILLE —
A paving project will shut down Spring Street from Court Avenue to Riverside Drive overnight Wednesday and Thursday.
Jeffersonville Street Commissioner David Hosea said street closures will begin at 8 p.m. Wednesday in order for crews to mill the road and will reopen by 7 a.m. Thursday morning. Spring Street will close again at 8 p.m. Thursday night for paving and reopen Friday morning by 7 a.m.
All vehicles must be off Spring Street before 8 p.m. on both Wednesday and Thursday.
Hosea said the paving project is moving forward because everything else is caught up and he wanted to get this project completed before cold weather hits.
“If I let it go, I may not have the monies next year to do it,” he said.
Hosea added that he wanted the paving project to be completed this week before the city hosts its any more special events on Spring Street starting with its downtown trick-or-treat event from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29.
“I want to hurry up and get this done,” he said.
Louisville Paving Co. Inc. is the contractor on the paving project and will complete the work for $59,860. Hosea said that the Board of Public Works approved the paving bids for various companies earlier in the year and left Hosea the discretion to hire the contractors to complete the work.
