> SOUTHERN INDIANA — NEW ALBANY

Family Fun Workshop is Saturday

The Carnegie Center will host its next Family Fun Workshop on Feb. 11.

In honor of Black History Month, and as a nod to our current exhibit “Form, Not Function: Quilt Art at the Carnegie,” the workshops will allow participants to create a Kente cloth.

Kente cloth is made by weaving long strips that contain symbolic patterns.  There is a pattern to illustrate joy, a pattern for royalty, a pattern for newborn babies — nearly every important event in a person’s life can be expressed in Kente cloth patterns.

This drop-in workshop is free and open to the first 60 participants, suggested ages 2-12.  Registration is required and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants should arrive no later than 11:30 am. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Call the CCAH to register or for more information at 812-944-7336.
