Enrollment of 4-H steers begins
4-H youth planning to exhibit beef or dairy steers at the 2010 Clark County 4-H Fair must have their animals enrolled and RFID tagged from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 13 at the Clark County 4-H Fairgrounds, Ind. 62, near Charlestown.
Commercial heifers and cows can also be brought to this enrollment date. 4-H’ers must be in the possession of the animals and be feeding and keeping records of their project. If the animals are not enrolled by the deadline date, they will not be eligible to be shown at the 2010 Clark County 4-H Fair.
All animals must be owned or owned in partnership by the 4-H member. First year 4-H members must join a local 4-H club and turn in a 2010 Clark County 4-H member enrollment form to the Clark County Extension Office prior to Feb. 13 to be eligible.
Clark County follows Indiana State Fair guidelines for enrollment and identification of all livestock. Therefore, if any 4-H’er is interested in exhibiting at the 2010 Indiana State Fair, to be held Aug. 6-22, notify the Extension Office to obtain further State Fair guidelines.
New in 2010, the County Fair & State Fair beef entries will have to have a RFID tag and 4-H’ers must provide a premise ID number. Contact the Clark County Extension Office at 812-256-4591 for 4-H Livestock Enrollment Forms or more information.
