College Fair at NAHS Sept. 26

A college fair will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at New Albany High School.

All students and parents are encouraged to attend. There will be booths staffed by admissions representatives from colleges and universities. There will also be opportunities to ask questions about the college process, admissions procedures, financial aid and student life. There will be more than 70 colleges and universities at the fair along with military participants and others including financial services.



Welcoming group to meet

New Friends and Neighbors of Southern Indiana will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 25. Newcomers to the area are welcome. Call Carolyn Ledford at 812-949-6021 for meeting location and information.



NEW ALBANY 

Event to honor Noah Grawemeyer

An event in honor of Noah Grawemeyer will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post 28, Grant Line Road, New Albany.

All of the proceeds collected will be donated to the family to help pay for funeral costs.

There will be hot dogs, bake sale, 50/50 drawing, corn hole tournament, music, raffle prizes and more.

Pumpkin Decorating contest Sunday

The annual Harvest Homecoming Pumpkin Decorating contest will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at the 4-H Fairgrounds along Green Valley Road in New Albany.

There will be individual and group categories. Individual categories include: Ages 1-4; 5-8; 9-12; 13-16; 17-20; 21-39; 40-54; senior citizen and craft. Group categories include: pre-school and kindergarten, school entries, exceptionality group, family group, church, 4-H, scout, neighborhood, senior citizen and craft.

Pumpkins may be dropped off between noon and 2:30 p.m.. Judging begins at 3 p.m., and awards will be given out at 3:30 p.m.

Annual Kiwanis pancake breakfast

The Kiwanis Club of Historic New Albany will sponsor a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at The Grand Theatre in downtown New Albany.

 Table sponsorship is $300 and you receive 20 tickets for an “all you can eat” pancake breakfast. Individual tickets are $10 each.

Candidate forum Oct. 4 at Jeff library

The Franklin Commons Neighborhood Association will sponsor the second part of the traditional candidate forums, 6 p.m., Oct. 4, in the large (north) meeting room of the Jeffersonville Township Public Library, 211 E. Court Ave., Jeffersonville.

Candidates for Greater Clark County School Board and Clark County Council at-large will be in attendance.

Confirmation have been received from eight of the nine candidates for School Board and all six candidates for Clark County Council at-large.

All are invited to attend and questions are both allowed and encouraged.



Steamboat museum participating  in Museum Day Live!

The Howard Steamboat Museum & Mansion, 1101 E. Market St., Jeffersonville, will open its doors free of charge along with more than 1,400 other participating venues for the eighth annual Museum Day Live, Sept. 29. This immensely successful program, in which the Howard Steamboat Museum will emulate the free admission policy of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, D.C.-based facilities, encourages learning and the spread of knowledge nationwide.

Inclusive by design, Museum Day Live! fulfills Smithsonian Media’s mission to make cultural education accessible to everyone. For one day only, the Howard Steamboat Museum will grant free access to visitors who download a Museum Day Live! ticket at Smithsonian.com/museumday.  



Haunted Woods opens Oct. 12-13

The 20th annual Haunted Woods, sponsored by The Pepper Upper Club, will be from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m., Oct. 12 and Oct. 13, Ind. 60, 2.5 miles west of Hamburg. Look for signs.

Admission is $10 per person. The concession stand opens at 6:30 p.m. The event will provide fun for the entire family.
