Special ‘green’ meeting upcoming
The city of Jeffersonville Sanitary Sewer Board will hold a meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday in the mayor’s conference room on the second floor at Jeffersonville City Hall, 500 Quartermaster Court.
The special meeting will be held to discuss and present information concerning environmentally friendly technologies, according to a meeting notice from the city. The board will hold its regular business meeting will follow at 3 p.m.

Drainage board to meet today
The Jeffersonville Drainage Board will hold its regular meeting at 5:30 today in the mayor’s conference room on the second floor at Jeffersonville City Hall, 500 Quartermaster Court.

19th-annual Steamboat Stroll set
The Catholic Community of Jeffersonville is hosting the 19th annual Steamboat Stroll 5K Run/Walk, beginning with registration from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Augustine Church, 315 E. Chestnut St., Jeffersonville.
The event begins at 7 p.m. It serves as an opportunity for families to spend time together in a healthy environment, with proceeds benefiting the Saint Augustine-Sacred Heart Youth Ministry.
The top three male and female runners will be awarded trophies. After the race, each participant will get a commemorative T-shirt and be included in a drawing for several door prizes, for which you must be present to win. Although the race is a friendly competition, it is open to people of all ages.

UTICA
Homecoming celebration is set
The annual Utica Historic Homecoming celebration, sponsored by Utica Preservation Association Inc., is planned for Friday and Saturday.
Entries are needed for the car show, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, the kick-off parade at 11 a.m. Saturday and the annual baby contest at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Deadline to enter the baby contest is noon on Friday. Booth space rentals are still available and entries are needed for the cornhole tournament, which will be at 7 p.m. Friday and 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
A Poker run will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Utica Community Center. Entry fee is $5 and T-shirts will be available for $10.
Games, booths and rides for children will open at 4 p.m. Friday with a full meal being served inside the Community Center. The annual auction will begin at 7 p.m. Friday. Music throughout the day on Saturday will be provided by Tim Morrow and Brian Myers and The Band.

Paws for a Sweet Cause scheduled
Paws for a Sweet Cause — a dessert reception/fundraiser for New Albany-Floyd County Animal Control and Shelter and the Animal Protection Association of Jeffersonville — will feature hundreds of desserts from local bakers, including The Bakery at Sullivan University, from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 22 at Culbertson West, 904 E. Main St., New Albany.
In addition to enough sugar to bring a dessert lover to their knees, the event will include a style show with doggie couture and a silent and live auction. Culbertson West owners and pet lovers Carl Holliday and Steve Goodman are hosting the event.
