JEFFERSONVILLE —
A man who got in a fight with two police officers at Sportsdrome Speedway in Jeffersonville was found not guilty of battery to law enforcement and guilty of resisting law enforcement.
Jeffrey Hunn, 61, was arrested following an incident at the Sportsdrome race track in August 2009.
According to a probable-cause affidavit, Roscoe Meek, a Harrison County Sheriff’s Department officer, was working security at Sportsdrome. While he was working, he was told by police officers that someone had keyed his car.
When Hunn, the man suspected of keying the car, was approached he ran from officers, according to the affidavit. The officers followed Hunn and were trying to arrest him, but he was resisting.
Meek helped the officers subdue Hunn, but in the struggle, Meek said his foot was injured and began to swell. He went to the Harrison County Hospital the next morning and discovered it was broken.
Officer Chris Hogue, who worked special deputy the Harrison County Sheriff, also claimed injuries to his chest, head, back and hip.
A jury found Hunn not guilty of battery, a class D felony, and guilty of resisting arrest, a class D felony.
Hunn’s sentencing is set for July 13, and faces up to six months to three years in jail and up to $10,000 in fines.
