Plans are in the works for a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant in Clarksville.
The Minneapolis-based sports bar chain — known for its chicken wings in a variety of flavors — is expected to locate on Clarksville’s Veterans Parkway at a proposed development known as Coyle Commons.
Plans were recently approved for the design of the building, according to Sharon Wilson, Clarksville’s planning director. Construction is expected once weather improves. The restaurant is expected to be open by October or November, she said.
According to the company’s Web site, there are about 500 Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants in 37 states, including several in Louisville. Locations average between 5,000 and 7,000 square feet. The company had a total revenue of about $330 million in 2007.
Coyle Commons — a development at which dirt is already moving — will be located beside Coyle Chevrolet and owned by the same family.
The restaurant will be located behind a Rite-Aid pharmacy that has been proposed there as well, Wilson said. A strip mall also is planned for the area, where other businesses are expected to locate.
Plans for the Rite-Aid and Buffalo Wild Wings have been the subject of contention as parking waivers for about 13 spaces have been granted. The design of the Buffalo Wild Wings had to be negotiated as well, as the store’s sign goes above its facade, Wilson said.
Representatives from Coyle could not be reached for comment on further developments.
The restaurant and the pharmacy will be the newest additions to an already lively area of Clarksville that has attracted numerous businesses. Groundwork is beginning near the Broadway corridor, just off Veterans Parkway, for the construction of three hotels— Holiday Inn Express, Candlewood Suites and Suburban Extended Stay.
That construction will likely begin later this spring. The hotels would likely be open by next year, Wilson said.
