Free concerts this weekend will help mark 25 years in business for Joe Huber’s Family Restaurant, located in Starlight.
The popular Southern Indiana band The Marlins will play from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The German band The Kaelins will perform from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The performances will take place at the restaurant’s pavilion, and the dining room will be open for reservations.
“It’s a way to enjoy the outdoors and to reflect on where we’ve been and how far we’ve come,” said Tracye Huber. “It’s our way of thanking everyone who has helped us achieve this milestone.”
There will be an outdoor grilling station for people to buy food “fresh off the grill,” Huber said. On Saturday, there will be a cash bar featuring fresh fruit daiquiris, as well as beer and Huber Wine.
There also will be entertainment for the kids as Blossom the Clown will be making an appearance on both days. Wagon rides and tours of the farm will provide additional fun for those in attendance.
“We’re looking to have a very good turnout,” Huber said. “We’ve invited all our family, friends and customers to join us and reminisce.”
The restaurant opened in 1983 serving food “similar to what grandmom Huber used to serve her farmhands,” Huber said.
It is named for the late Joe Huber, who passed away in March. He is noted for his contribution to agritourism in Starlight after his successful restaurant and you-pick farm ventures.
“Joe Huber Restaurant is still creating their menu fresh from scratch every day,” Tracye Huber said.
Menu items include country-fried chicken, Huber Honey Ham, fried biscuits and a variety of fresh vegetables, as well as homemade pies and cobblers.
