Career development workshop set
The Jeffersonville Downtown Ministerial Association is sponsoring a Career Development Workshop for people interested in obtaining a new job.

Chili supper Friday at Cook Memorial
Cook Memorial United Methodist Church Men’s Group will sponsor a chili supper, 4:30 to 7 p.m., Friday, at the church, 1025 Allison Lane, Jeffersonville.
The menu will be chili, hot dog, dessert and drink. Adults, $5, children 5 to 12, $2, children younger than 5, free.
JHS chili cook off is Jan. 26
The Jeffersonville High School Winter Percussion will be holding a Chili Cookoff in the Jeffersonville High School cafeteria , 6 to 8 p.m., on Jan. 26.
Admission is $5 at the door. Chili and drinks are included. Additional concessions are available. The Winter Percussion will be performing at 7:45 p.m. while the votes are tallied.

Tickets available for Mardi Gras Bash
Goodwill of Southern Indiana, Inc. will host its 13th annual Mardi Gras Bash, Saturday, Feb. 18, from 6 to 10 p.m., at Huber’s Orchard & Winery Plantation Hall in Starlight.
The event will feature the band Walker & Kays, fire eaters, a magician and juggler, dinner buffet with cash bar, silent and live auctions and a raffle.
Annually, Goodwill of Southern Indiana provides services to more than 5,000 people with disabilities and disadvantages. Those services are made possible by items that are donated to Goodwill and sold in the 11 stores located throughout Southern Indiana. The Mardi Gras Bash is the agency’s largest fundraiser.

Tailgate dinner at NAHS
DePauw United Methodist Church, Methodist, across from New Albany High School, will hold a tailgate dinner, 5 to 7 p.m., Jan. 27, before the New Albany basketball game.
The menu will include ham, baked beans, corn pudding, homemade cole slaw, dessert and a drink. The price is $7 for adults and $3 for children 6 to 12 years old. Children 5 and younger eat free. Call 812-945-6537 for more information or for carry-out orders.
History of Girl Scouts explored
Historian Marie Byatt will present “A Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts,” 7 p.m., Feb. 2, at the Southern Indiana Genealogical Society meeting, in the Strassweg Auditorium of the New Albany-Floyd County Library, 180 W. Spring St., New Albany.
Ms. Byatt is a 50-year volunteer with the Girl Scouts and a SIGS member.
Sunnyside Solos hosting fundraiser
The Sunnyside Solos Square Dancing group will hold a fundraiser from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Applebees, 3030 Grant Line Road, New Albany.
The cost for the all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, which includes a drink, is $5. Tickets can be purchased at the door or from any member of Sunnyside Solos group.
Aebersold Jazz Quartet to perform
Jamey Aebersold Jazz has generously made it possible for members of our community to experience a concert of the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Quartet.
The Quartet will perform in the Strassweg Auditorium of the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
In addition to Aebersold, who will be playing alto saxophone, the Quartet will include Steve Allee on piano, Tyrone Wheeler on bass and Jonathan Higgins on the drums.

The Clarksville Little League will be having spring baseball and softball sign-ups on the following dates at the Clarksville Community Center, 2311 Sam Gwin Drive, Clarksville: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21; noon to 5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 22; 5 to 9 p.m., Monday, Jan. 22.
