Charity Community Baptist Church, 1810 Blackiston Mill Road, Clarksville, will sponsor an indoor yard sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.

The Knights of Columbus 1348 Ladies Auxiliary will host a holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 14 at 322 E. Market St., Jeffersonville.

Hospital hosting dating violence seminar
Clark Memorial Hospital is partnering with the Center for Women and Families to offer a community seminar on abuse and dating violence for teenagers and their parents from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 29 in the lower level conference center of the hospital, 1220 Missouri Ave.
Participants will learn the signs of emotional and physical abuse, and what can be done to stop the cycle. Parents and teenagers will be in separate seminars. Free pizza and soft drinks will be provided.
The event is free and open to the public, however families are asked to RSVP. Call 812-283-2079 to register.

Charlestown
City plans holiday events
The city of Charlestown is looking for anyone who would like to be a member of its Community Choir. The choir will perform at Light Up Charlestown on Nov. 27.
The city is looking for 200 or more people who will be a part of the celebration. They will practice at the Arts and Enrichment Center on Nov. 10 and Nov. 17 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The choir will lead children in singing Christmas carols before the countdown and will sing “The Hallelujah Chorus” after the lights come on. The choir will be led by Theresa Smith from the LDS congregation in New Albany.
The city also is looking for entertainment for Friday and Saturday nights in Greenway Park throughout December. Featured will be a Santa’s workshop and carriage rides on those nights.

Martinsburg Road resurfacing starts
The Indiana Department of Transportation announced an asphalt resurfacing project on Martinsburg Knob Road from the Washington County Line to Greenville-Borden Road.
The $178,000 contract was awarded to Gohmann Asphalt Construction Inc., of Clarksville, and is scheduled to begin today, weather permitting. Motorists will have lane restrictions, which will be controlled by flaggers.
The project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and has a completion date of Nov. 13.

Economists provide 2010 outlook at IUS
As the U.S. remains a hot topic nationally and worldwide, the Indiana University Southeast School of Business will share its forecast for recovery or further decline at the annual Economic Outlook 2010 breakfast at 7 a.m. Nov. 13 in the Hoosier Room at IUS, 4201 Grant Line Road, New Albany.
The reservation deadline is Nov. 9. The program will feature a panel of economic experts including IUPUI Senior Lecturer James C. Smith; IU Kelley School of Business Professor John A. Boquist; Bill Witte, associate professor emeritus and co-director of the Center for Econometric Model Research; and Uric Dufrene, Sanders Chair in Business at IU Southeast School of Business.
IU Southeast Chancellor Sandra R. Patterson-Randles will moderate the event. This year’s speakers will discuss national, state and local economic conditions, as well as the expectations for the coming year. The breakfast is sponsored by First Harrison Bank and Southern Indiana Business Source, and is presented by the IUS School of Business and the IU Kelley School of Business. Space is limited.
Cost is $25 per person, a table for eight is $175.
