A Jeffersonville man is in serious condition at University Hospital in Louisville after his motorcycle collided with a car Sunday.
Christopher M. Speagle, 32, of Jeffersonville, was thrown from his 2007 Suzuki motorcycle and was incapacitated at the scene, according to a Jeffersonville Police Department report.
Vincent D. Dam, 45, of Jeffersonville, was turning from Hoskins Lane onto East 10th Street in a 2009 Toyota Corolla. The Corolla was struck by the motorcyclist at about 5:15 p.m.
Dam told police he did not see the motorcycle traveling northeast on East 10th Street.
Speagle, who was wearing a helmet, reportedly suffered severe bleeding. The report indicates Dam was not injured.
The accident report states that the investigation found the motorcyclist was “traveling at an unreasonable speed” and “did not apply its brakes.”
Dam was cited for failure to yield and driving with a suspended or revoked license as a class A misdemeanor because of a prior similar infraction within the last 10 years.
A conviction can result in as much as one year in prison and a $5,000 fine.
