The Clark County Health Department will be holding its second H1N1 vaccination clinic at the old Kmart building in Clarksville on Friday.
The health department hosted its first clinic Nov. 4 at Nolan Fieldhouse, in Sellersburg, administering between 700 and 800 inoculations there.
Round two of the vaccines are designed for Clark County residents ages 6 months to 24 years old, and pregnant women. Also included are children less than 9 years old who have still not received their second dose of the vaccine, which is required regardless of whether they were administered a nasally or as a shot.
Delynn Rutherford,
preparedness coordinator for the health department, said there will be no less than 1,000 vaccines that will be available at Friday’s clinic. Rutherford was unsure about the total amount of vaccines that will be available because shipments are expected to arrive all week. The clinic will run from 3 to 7 p.m.
Each individual receiving a vaccination will need have a consent forms filled out, including those receiving their second dose. The form is available at the health department’s Web site www.clarkhealth.net.
It is unknown when vaccinations will be available for the next target group — individuals with chronic health conditions such as asthma of immunity deficiencies with ages ranging up to 64-year-olds, which is also expected to be held at the old Kmart building, Rutherford said.
