Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday before 2 p.m. at the Walgreens at 1702 E. Spring St. in New Albany.
Preliminary reports from the New Albany Police Department are that a white male suspect entered the store with a knife and stole large amounts of OxyContin, a controlled substance.
A description of the possible suspect was dispatched to police officers. The suspect was described as 30 to 40 years old, about 6 feet tall and 170 to 180 pounds. He also reportedly had a mustache.
He was last seen driving a green minivan.
Shortly after the robbery, a minivan possibly matching the suspect’s description was stopped on Interstate 65. Police do not believe that person was involved in the robbery.
No arrests had been made as of press deadline Tuesday.
NAPD Capt. Keith Whitlow said more information about the robbery would be available today.

According to a release from IDOE, Indiana’s state graduation rate came in at 85.7 percent. About 45 percent of high schools met or exceeded the 90 percent mark and 83 percent graduated 80 percent of their seniors or more.
