CASI hosting Angel Tree event
Community Action of Southern Indiana is hosting its fourth-annual Angel Tree toy and clothing giveaway and Christmas dinner beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday with a program for children run by CASI’s head start program.
The event is open to the public and will be held at CASI, 1613 E. Eighth St., Jeffersonville. Recipients will be primarily from Clarksville, Jeffersonville and New Albany, children from Haven House’s homeless shelter and the local head start program. Other children in need are welcome to participate.
More than 160 children are signed up to receive gifts and as many as 200 are expected to be helped. The dinner crowd is expected at 400. The gift-giving from Santa will begin at 6 p.m., along with the dinner.
Buses will pick up families with children at Haven House’s Williams Shelter at 4:45 and 5:30, and also will stop for passengers at Warder Park.
Brighter Days Ahead charities along with Eastside Christian Church in Jeffersonville and the staff and students at University of Louisville Hospital and medical school are the primary donors
Also, teenagers who volunteer to cook and feed the homeless every Sunday at CASI will be honored at the event.

JHS shop to be open this weekend
The Devils’ Den Apparel Spirit Shop will be open at halftime of the Jeffersonville High School boys’ varsity basketball games Friday and Saturday.
This shop allows fans to purchase last minute holiday gifts for Red Devils fans. Sweatshirts, T-shirts, jewelry and other items are available.

Church hosting holiday service
Community Christian Church, 5030 Hamburg Pike, Jeffersonville, will host a Christmas Eve worship and birthday party of Jesus at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve at the church.

H1N1 clinic upcoming
The Clark County Health Department will offer an H1N1 vaccination clinic from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday for Clark County residents of any age, at the former Kmart at 1416 Blackiston Mill Road, Clarksville.
Consent forms will need to be filled out for each person. For those who wish to print and fill out the form prior to coming to the clinic, the form is available in Spanish and English through the Health Department’s Web site at clarkhealth.net.

Stamp collectors event scheduled
Stamp collectors can sell and buy postage stamps with dealers and collectors nationwide at the marketplace, hosted by P&S; Stamp Express from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 9 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 10 at Holiday Inn, 505 Marriott Drive, Clarksville.
Beginners to longtime collectors will have an opportunity to obtain accumulations, collections, covers, mint and/or used stamps, postal history, post cards, supplies and other items.

AME church hosts coat giveaway
The Phillips-Grundy Women’s Missionary Society of the Indiana Conference AME Church will host a winter coat giveaway from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Bethel AME Church, 315 E. Fifth St., New Albany.
Coats will be available for anyone in need — men, women, children and infants — and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
There also will be a free meal for those in need, consisting of chili, hot dogs, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, desserts and drinks.
