Indiana State Policed detectives assigned to the Sellersburg and Versailles Post brought a close to a 30-year-old murder case, ISP announced Tuesday afternoon.
On Oct. 19, 1983, Johnny Hodge, 34, an inmate at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City, was murdered in his cell. Hodge was incarcerated for life on a double murder at the time.
Information came forward that led to the arrest of Paul D. Stucker, 52 of Scottsburg, in Gretna, La., Tuesday morning, on a warrant issued out of LaPorte County for felony murder by the U.S. Marshalls out of the New Orleans District office.
Stucker was an inmate at the Michigan City Prison at the same time as Hodge when the murder occurred, the release says.
Stucker was incarcerated at the Jefferson Parrish Sheriff’s Department Jail in Louisiana awaiting extradition back to Indiana.
The U.S. Marshals and Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force were instrumental in the arrest, ISP reported
