Jeffersonville to launch online means to report issues

JEFFERSONVILLE — The city of Jeffersonville will launch YourGOV, which makes it easier for citizens to report issues to city government.

In a few steps, YourGOV users can report issues ranging from potholes to streetlight outages to city government, according to a press release. It’s not intended for use for emergency calls such as ambulance, fire and police.

“YourGOV provides a great opportunity to bring people closer to city government,” said Mayor Tom Galligan. “Our hope is that people will take advantage of this tool and communicate freely with us.”

Developed by municipal technology provider Cartegraph, YourGOV provides access via a Web portal, found at http://jeffersonvillegis.com/yourgov/yourgov.aspx. Microsoft Silverlight — a free download found at microsoft.com/silverlight — is required to use YourGOV.

The site is the latest addition to the array of Cartegraph applications that the city uses to manage assets, infrastructure and workflow. Because it connects directly to the city’s other Cartegraph applications, YourGOV makes it easy to receive and track citizen requests through the entire workflow process for quicker, more accurate issue resolutions.

YourGOV — and its phone applications — is available free of charge to all Jeffersonville citizens and is available for immediate use. In late November, YourGOV will unveil free apps for Apple iPhone — available at the iTunes App Store — and Android-enabled smartphones — available at Google Market and the Amazon App Store.
