JHS class of ’64 to meet
Jeffersonville High School Class of 1964 classmates will gather for their monthly luncheon at noon Friday, Sept. 14, at the Holiday Inn Lakeview, 505 Marriott Drive, Clarksville.
All classmates are encouraged to join for an hour of fun, food and reminiscing.
Chicken Chase coming up
The Chicken Chase, a 4-mile run/walk through scenic Clark State Forest, will be Saturday, Sept. 15. The walk starts at 8:15 and the run begins at 8:30. Cost is $20 for adults and youth.
Proceeds benefit the Henryville Dollars for Scholars fund.

Comedy at Rose Island Playhouse
Rose Island Playhouse will present Pat Cook’s comedy “Hit the Road, Jack,” at 7:30 p.m. nightly Sept. 14 and 15 and Sept. 21 and 22 at the Charlestown Arts & Enrichment Center, 999 Water St., Charlestown. One afternoon performance is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sept. 23.

K of C hosting chicken dinner
The Knights of Columbus, 225 E. Market St., Jeffersonville, will sponsor an all-you-can-eat chicken dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at the K of C hall.
The menu of chicken, green beans, macaroni and cheese, potatoes and gravy, slaw, drink and dessert is $8. A large portion of the proceeds will be given to Father Tom for the Haiti Disaster Relief Fund.
Women can learn self-defense
A women’s self-defense workshop will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Eastern Heights Southern Baptist Church, 4202 E. 10th St., Jeffersonville.
The free workshop is being conducted by Hart’s Martial Arts under the leadership of Harold Hart. The workshop is for women ages 12 and older and registration is required. To register or for more information, call 812-283-6998.
JHS, city to play in charity game
The Jeffersonville High School faculty will play softball against the Jeffersonville city team at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at Colston Park, Jeffersonville.
The cost is $1 per person and proceeds go to the March of Dimes.
NEW ALBANY
Medication toss at FMH
Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services will host a drive-thru medication toss from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Green Valley Road entrance of the hospital.
The toss is regularly scheduled on the second Thursday of every month. All expired or unused medications, including bulk or loose tablets and capsules will be accepted. However, do not bring needles.
Free medical seminar offered
A free bone and joint pain screening will be from 6:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Floyd Memorial Wound Healing Center, 1850 State St., New Albany.
Screenings of the knees and hips will include free X-rays and a consultation with one of FMH’s surgeons.
These screenings are offered twice per year, so space is limited. Call 812-476-8723 to register.
Annual meeting for 40 & 8
The 40 & 8 Club’s annual open house and luncheon will begin at noon Sunday, Sept. 16, at the club, 221 Albany St., New Albany.
The meal of liver and onions will be served from noon to 3 p.m. for $6 per person. The open house will continue until 6 p.m.

The 30th annual reunion of the descendants, relatives and friends of Susanna Staehli and Friedrich Von Allmen will begin at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 16, at Atkins Chapel Church, 7834 Atkins Road, Floyds Knobs.
