Clark County Cattlemen’s annual meeting scheduled

The annual meeting of the Clark County Cattlemen’s Association will begin at 6:30 p.m., Feb. 22, at the Clark County 4-H Center, 9608 Ind. 62, Charlestown.

The meeting will begin with a Rib-eye steak dinner at 6:30 p.m. At the meeting board members will be appointed. Guest speakers Doug Pals, Phd from BioTracking LLC. will be discussing the advantages of the Bio PRYN pregnancy testing in beef cattle and Charlie McDonner from Wayne Supply will be discussing the Challenger Products through Wayne Supply.

Reservation deadline is noon on Monday, Feb. 20. Call the Purdue Extension – Clark County office at 812-256-4591 to make a reservation.



Prom dresses and suits to be given away

The fifth annual Prom Aid, sponsored by the Clark County 4-H Junior Leaders, will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4, in the Community Building at the Clark County 4-H fairgrounds, 9608 Highway 62, Charlestown.

The collection of dresses and suits will be given away to any high school student from Clark, Floyd or neighboring counties. Nu Yale Cleaners has again agreed to clean the clothing for the giveaway.

Donations of new or gently used prom items can be taken to any Southern Indiana NuYale Dry Cleaners (Please tell them they are for 4-H Prom Aid) or the 4-H Extension Office, located at the 4-H Fairgrounds, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, until Feb. 24.



JEFFERSONVILLE



Monte Carlo night at K of C

Monte Carlo Night is planned from 8 p.m. to midnight, Feb. 25, at the Knights of Columbus, 225 E. Market St., Jeffersonville             

Tickets are $10 each. All proceeds benefit the family of Kelly Aubrey Anderson.



FLOYD COUNTY



Homemakers offering scholarships

The Floyd County Extension Homemakers Association is offering one $750 scholarship to a senior at New Albany and Floyd Central high schools. Applicants must be Floyd County residents. The deadline to apply is March 15.

Chapel Hill sponsoring Lenton supper

Chapel Hill Christian Church, 6940 Chapel Hill Road, Floyds Knobs, will sponsor a Lenton pancake and sausage supper, 5:30 p.m., Feb. 19,  in the church fellowship hall. The church is located three miles north of Navilleton Road, off Ind. 150.

A concert with Smith and Company will begin at 6:45 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

All are welcome to come and enjoy the beginning of Lent and the Easter season. A free will offering will be taken. For more information call 812-923-9743.

NEW ALBANY



Half of Ben and Jerry’s coming to IU Southeast

Jerry Greenfield, of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream, will be the keynote speaker for the annual Sanders Speaker Series at 6 p.m. on Feb. 21, at the Paul W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center at Indiana University Southeast.

Greenfield and his business partner, Ben Cohen, opened the first Ben and Jerry’s ice cream parlor in 1978. Greenfield will share with the IUS audience how he and Cohen turned one local ice cream shop into a multimillion dollar business. A reception will follow the presentation.

Admission to the series is free, but seating is limited and tickets are required. To reserve your seats, call 812-941-2525.



Chili supper at Slate Run

Slate Run Elementary, 1452 Slate Run Road, New Albany, will sponsor a chili supper and basket auction, 5:30 to 8 p.m., Feb. 23, at the school.

Chili is served at 5:30 p.m., followed by a silent auction and live auction.



SOUTHERN INDIANA

Providence collecting memories of spring musicals

Our Lady of Providence Jr.-Sr. High School will present its 50th spring musical production on April 20, 22, and 26-29. Providence alumni who participated in any Providence spring theater productions from 1963-2011 are asked to share their memories and photos. Providence parents and supporters who make up the backstage crew are collecting pictures, stories and spring musical memories through Feb. 15. Send information to backstagecrewphs@gmail.com.
